Park & Ride – FREE of charge
Peterborough City Council will once again be
offering a free park and ride service from November to help ease
traffic congestion in the run up to what is the busiest time of
the year on the city's roads.
The service will allow people to leave their
car at specific sites and travel into town on the bus. It will
operate on Saturdays from 1 November to 27 December 2008.
Stagecoach will be running buses every 12
minutes from the Diligenta car park at Lynch Wood
to Queensgate on Saturdays. The first bus leaves Lynch Wood at
8.05 am and the last bus from Queensgate will be at 6.12 pm.
There will also be a service to Queensgate on
Saturdays from outside Perkins car park on Oxney Road,
operated by Stagecoach. The first bus from Perkins will be at
8.09 am, with the last bus leaving Queensgate at 6.14 pm. This
service will also drop off and pick up passengers at Midgate to
make it easy to get to the city market and Cathedral Square.
Buses will operate every 8-12 minutes and this will include
Stagecoach Citi 7 service. Stagecoach Citi 7 can also be used by
park and ride passengers between the Perkins site and the city
To further ease city centre congestion, a
Sunday park and ride service will begin on 30 November and
operate until Sunday 21 December 2008.
Buses will run every 12 minutes and from the
same sites as the Saturday service. This service will be
operated by Veolia Transport. At Lynchwood, the first bus will
leave at 10.05 am and the last bus from Queensgate will be 5 pm.
The first bus at Oxney Road will set off at 10 am and the last
bus will return at 5.01 pm.
All the services will feature low-floor
vehicles allowing easy access for wheelchairs and buggies.
