Who would have thought it? A few
short discussions in an Internet forum at the start of the month
would result in an amazing fund raising event.
It was all started by Paul Gray of
the 9 Lives Classic Rock Band in a post to the Local Music Forum on
Peterborough Community Website -
www.peterborough.net.
It was 11pm on 7th January when Paul called for local bands to get
together for a big fund raising effort.
Mark Ringer, well known for
organising many local music events over the years, responded to the
call and within days the Broadway Theatre had been offered as the
venue.
Most important of all, the bands saw
the forum thread and began to offer their services. So the line-up
evolved, a name had been established, several sponsors were found
and much of it achieved through the power of the Internet.
Website content editor, Jenny
Mogford said: “The Local Music forum has seen many a gig planned,
transport arranged, equipment loaned and music discussed since it
first went live in September 2000. So it’s great to see it put to
further good use.”
ROCK RELIEF will take place at the
Broadway Theatre on Sunday 6th February 2005. Sponsors so far are
the Broadway Theatre, Lite FM, T2 Studios, Lee Mason and of course
Peterborough Community Website.
If you would like more information,
or would like to be involved please contact the event organiser,
Mark Ringer on 01733 346529.
