We
are a non-commercial club, whose activities are arranged by our
members.
This allows us to enjoy a wide range of
social, sports and leisure activities including parties,
badminton, ten-pin bowling, dining out, concerts, theatre,
holidays etc.
All the activities arranged by members are published in
an entertaining monthly programme distributed at the last
clubnight of the month.
IVC
was originally started in 1946 by two undergraduates in order to
further their social life during the long summer vacation.
Peterborough IVC was formed in 1979.
Every month we arrange events and as a guest member you
are invited and encouraged to attend as many events as you wish.
| IVC
is Organised by Club Members like you! |
Every
member of IVC is encouraged and expected to organise at least
two activities a year towards the clubs programme.
The
types of event are as varied as our members and can range from a
simple get-together in a local pub to a weekend away, so the
numbers attending events vary considerably, depending on the
type of event, so whether you are happiest among a large group,
or prefer the intimacy of smaller gatherings, there will be
something for you.
All
of our events are arranged by members who volunteer their time
for the benefit of other members and there are no charges for
organising these events. Although most events are free, if
tickets need to be purchased (for example when visiting the
theatre) you will only pay the cost price of those tickets. You
pay your own way for food and drink! |
Membership
of IVC is open to single and married people from a wide variety
of careers and occupations.
Most
IVC members join in their 20s and 30s and are generally
professionals or career people with similar interests.
However,
the most important qualifications are a willingness to get
involved and the ability to mix with other active career people!
IVC
is a National Club with over 40 Club branches and around 6000
members throughout the UK
This
means that as a member of Peterborough IVC you can move anywhere
in the UK and still have an active social life.
