The Young People’s Office runs ‘Youth Consultation Peterborough’
which encourages young people aged between 13 and 19 to get involved
in different projects within the local community and express their
views.
The focus is on building bridges
between young people and the decision-makers, building young
people’s confidence and communication skills and encouraging them to
get actively involved in shaping the future of the city.
Councillor Matthew Dalton, spokesman
for young people said: “The Young People’s Office gives young people
a chance to have their say about issues that affect them. It has
already gained national recognition and I hope more young people
will take the opportunity to support it.”
Peter Rouncefield, a youth worker
for Peterborough City Council’s youth service, who runs the Young
People’s Office with youth worker Alice Johnson, said: “The Young
People's Office has developed a steady platform from which young
people's views can be heard and our website gives young people
opportunities to have their say and review the services provided for
and the organisations that work with young people in the area.”
