Jackson to discuss Railworld housing plans with housing group

News | Community

Local MP Stewart Jackson will shortly meet the Chief Executive of Luminus Group, Chan Abraham, to discuss the housing plans for the vacant six acre site to the north of the River Nene (adjacent to River Lane and the Railworld site).

Stewart Jackson MP

Plans are currently being drawn up for approximately 300 homes to be built on the site, by the developer - Almaren PLC (a partner of Luminus Group).

Mr Jackson has a number of concerns surround the development that he wishes to raise with Mr Abraham, inter alia:

  • Whether the road network in the area can support such a large increase in local dwellings

  • Whether the dwellings proposed meet the housing requirements of local people

  • Whether there will be sufficient parking provision in the area

  • Why such a high density per acre has been determined

Ahead of the meeting, Stewart commented: “I am not against development, but new housing must be in keeping with the surrounding area, meet local demand and not have a negative impact on the local transport network and public services.

“Following the meeting with Luminus, I shall be liaising closely with local councillors Matthew and Samantha Dalton, along with the Thorpe Gate Residents Association, to ensure only an appropriate scheme is given planning permission.”

Stewart Jackson was elected in May 2005 to represent the Peterborough constituency in the House of Commons. To find out more about him, his views and activities, visit his website at www.stewartjackson.org.uk
