Mr Jackson believes the brunt of the burden should not fall solely
on the local pubs and eating establishments. All alcohol retailers
should accept their portion of responsibility for harm arising from
excessive alcohol consumption.
Stewart commented: “The supermarkets
and licensed shops should accept their fair share of the burden of
these fees. Everyone must pull together to make our community a
safer, more pleasant place to live and work.”
Jackson was elected in May 2005 to represent the
Peterborough constituency in the House of Commons.
