Stewart has accepted a job in the Whips Office working under
Opposition Chief Whip Patrick McLoughlin.
As well as the traditional role of
making sure fellow members vote along party lines, whips now have an
increasing role in what might be described as ‘pastoral care’,

party’s senior leadership.
Stewart commented: “I am naturally
delighted at having been offered the chance to join the Whips
Office.
“It will be an honour and a
privilege to serve in David Cameron’s team”.
