Figures obtained through a Freedom of Information request show that
there was a 50% increase in translation costs between 2003-04 and
2006-07 within the North and South Peterborough Primary Care Trusts
(from £202,694 in 03/04 to £305,289 in 06/07).
The forecast for 2007-08 (for the
new Peterborough PCT) shows another massive leap up to £373,980.
Stewart commented: “These figures
just add more weigh to the case that Peterborough desperately needs
more money to cope with the recent massive influx of EU migrants.
“It is time Government started
listening, recognised the clear evidence available and committed the
necessary funding to alleviate this problem.
