The amphitheatre, dance studio and fitness suite at Ken Stimpson
Community School in Staniland Way, Werrington, Peterborough, are now
complete. The windows have been fitted in the new building
Mechanical and electrical works have
now started in the new building and the refurbishment and extension
of the dining area, which includes a new kitchen and dining room.
At Jack Hunt School in Ledbury Road,
Netherton, Peterborough, access to the swimming pool is complete and
the new library is nearing completion.
Concrete works are now complete at
the new Voyager School in Mountsteven Avenue, Walton, Peterborough.
Windows have been fitted in the science laboratories, teaching
areas, media arts room, drama studio, arts and textiles areas,
administration areas, crèche, library and assembly hall.
The steel structure of the new
sports hall and special educational needs areas are now finished.
The building will continue to be waterproofed over coming weeks and
electrical works have now started.
Councillor Geoff Ridgway, Cabinet
member for Education and Children’s Services, said: “I recently
visited all three school sites and was very impressed with what I
saw. Work is going to plan and all of the sites were very neat and
orderly. All three schools will offer a first class learning
environment to give Peterborough youngsters the best chance of
reaching their full potential.”

Mohammed Mehmet said: “I was very impressed by what I saw at all
three sites which will provide state-of-the-art facilities for our
children and young people to learn and develop in the future. The
ongoing work at our secondary schools is just one example of how we
are building for a better future for everyone in Peterborough. We
will all reap the benefits of this investment in secondary school
education in the city.”
Chief executive Gillian Beasley
said: “The city is growing and we want to make sure a bigger
Peterborough is a better city for everyone to live, work and visit
with high quality new buildings offering first class facilities. We
saw some excellent examples of this on all three of the school
sites.”
