Stones was named in the top 10 suspects as part of Operation Alert and
was arrested after being spotted by neighbourhood policing officers.
Today, Stones was jailed by Judge
Neil McKittrick at Peterborough Crown Court after he was found
guilty on one count of burglary. Judge McKittrick also took into
account three previous convictions for burglary in 2006.
Detective Inspector Neil Sloan, who
heads Operation Alert, said: "I welcome this sentence and hope it
sends out a clear message to those involved in burglary that this
type of offence is taken very seriously and will attract a
significant jail term from the courts.
"This was a great joint effort
between neighbourhood policing officers and detectives in CID and
demonstrates how focused we are on tackling burglary."
