Have your say on spending in your area at Neighbourhood Councils

News | Community

Residents have the chance to get involved in deciding how money is spent in their areas at the next round of neighbourhood councils in December and January.

Residents living in the Fletton, Stanground and Woodston and Ortons with Hampton council areas had the chance to help set spending priorities during the last round of meetings in September. An update will be given at the December meetings.

 Neighbourhood Councils

People in all other council areas have the chance to help agree how their neighbourhood council uses its budget at the December and January meetings.

The Fletton, Stanground and Woodston and Ortons with Hampton council areas will also hear about the progress of youth forums for each area. The forums will give young people a voice by working with the neighbourhood council for that area.

Another item on the agenda for all the councils will be Peterborough City Council’s budget proposals for 2011/12. You can hear more about the plans and have your say on proposed investments and efficiencies for the coming financial year.

Councillor Marco Cereste, leader of Peterborough City Council, said: "This is a great opportunity for residents to have their say on the priorities for spending in their area. Residents of an area are well placed to identify where money would be best spent, so if something is important then the neighbourhood council is the ideal forum to let us know.

"The next round of meetings also offers the chance to hear our budget proposals for 2011/12 in more detail and to ask any questions of our finance team. This will help prepare residents for having their say in the ongoing budget challenge consultation."

The meetings take place on:

  • 13 December - Rural North neighbourhood council meets at Newborough Primary School, School Road, Newborough at 7pm.

  • 14 December - Dogsthorpe, East and Park neighbourhood council meets at the The King's School, Park Road, Peterborough at 7pm.

  • 15 December - Peterborough North Area Committee meets at The Voyager School, Walton at 7.30pm.

  • 16 December - Ortons with Hampton neighbourhood council meets at Herlington Centre, Orton Malborne, at 7pm.

  • 20 December - Peterborough West neighbourhood council meets at the Denis Bracey Room, Peterborough City Hospital, Bretton at 7pm.

  • 21 December - Fletton, Stanground and Woodston neighbourhood council meets at The Fleet, Fleet Way, Fletton, Peterborough at 7pm.

  • 10 January - Central and North neighbourhood council meets at Gladstone Park Community Centre, Bourges Boulevard, Peterborough at 7pm.
