The £7.01 million scheme aims to mitigate congestion and to unlock
development potential at the adjacent Hampton township. Currently
Fletton Parkway carries 67,000 vehicles each weekday.
The extra lanes will be accommodated
using central reserve land and existing hard shoulders, avoiding any
impact on land outside the highway boundary or the need to widen
existing bridges. The lane layout has been designed to reduce
‘weaving’ between local and through traffic.
The improvements will include
additional lanes and traffic signals at the elevated junction three
roundabout and an additional lane on the northbound Nene Parkway to
accommodate increased exit flows from junction three.
The scheme has been designed to
accommodate a separate project for construction of a
pedestrian/cycle bridge over the A1139 linking the Orton housing
area with Hampton, should this be required by developer O&H Hampton
as a means of fulfilling its Section 106 agreement for this.
Fitzpatrick has grown organically to
meet the demands of today’s construction industry into a respected
multi-disciplinary contractor with a turnover approaching £400
million. It is well known for its non-confrontational, collaborative
approach and successfully operates in highways maintenance;
industrial, commercial and public sector building; heavy civil
engineering; rail and facilities management sectors. .
