Georgia Butters, general manager at Flag Fen, said: "It's fantastic
that we are receiving these funds to enable us to proceed with this
project. This will be a wonderful research facility providing
numerous opportunities for Peterborough."
The Peter Boizot Foundation was set
up in 1996 to fund good causes in the Peterborough area. Since the
foundation was set up donations have been made to various
organisations including the Peterborough Cathedral Trust, King's
School and the Woodland Trust.
"Flag Fen is a very worthwhile
organisation and the foundation holds it in great esteem," said Mr
Boizot. "As well as being a fantastic visitor attraction, the
archaeologists on site have a very interesting and important role
and need facilities to support this.
"The Peter Boizot Foundation
supports a number of great projects in and around Peterborough of
which Flag Fen is one. I have supported excavations and new projects
at the site for a number of years and the new facility will be a
very exciting new addition at the centre."
