Customers will be able to use the service, which is run by the
Peterborough Direct city council information team, in its new home
in the Bayard Place reception area, from Monday 10 July.
The move is just the first stage of
a transition to a new Customer Service Centre which will be based on
the ground floor of Bayard Place.
The new one-stop-shop centre will
open in December 2006 and will incorporate an expanded call centre
to put all of the city council’s customer service staff in one
accessible location.
Peterborough Direct manager Jeff
Austin said: “This change will bring a number of benefits. A larger
team of staff will enable us to provide a much more in-depth service
to customers, assisting more people than ever with their queries,
giving assistance with filling in application forms and offering
advice.
“This will hopefully avoid the need
for a customer to make two visits or follow up their visit with a
telephone call to another part of the organisation.“
