In the 70s he was Wigan Casino's
favourite son with star performances singing Northern soul classics
such as “Crakin up” .Tommy was originally booked for the
Limetree event to autograph his biography but has kindly agreed to
belt out some of his classics.
Dave Reed is a
local man, recognised as one of the main influences who kept
the soul scene alive when Wigan Casino closed down, he promoted many
soul events under the banner of Dedicated Soul Club in
Peterborough rubbing shoulders with stars like Edwin Starr
and Junior Walker.
Dave who still runs the successful
soul club reminisces... “They were great
days, I remember travelling on my mentors,
Stef Malajny's coach to Wigan Casino back
in the late seventies as a young fourteen year old and being totally
blown away, so when the Casino closed I made it my mission to keep
the scene alive and playing all my favourite Soul tunes in front of
7000 scooterists on the Isle of Wight certainly helped!”
Dave is hoping for a big turnout
and has already had enquiries from as far afield as Manchester, so
if you fancy a great night of Motown and Soul pop along the Lime
tree and support a great charity, admission is £3.
