Visitors to the Show, which attracts thousands of crowds from across
the country, as well as overseas, will be able to see hundreds of
Shire Horses expertly presented and dressed in their traditional
glory. There will be a range of demonstrations and classes featuring
in-hand, harness, turnout, ridden, with implements and cross-country
driving.
Plenty of main ring entertainment is
scheduled over the two days, culminating in a grand parade in the
afternoon each day. You can also take the opportunity to visit the
horses in their stables enjoying a well-earned rest!
There is fun for all the family,
including vintage tractors and farm machinery, a dog agility show, a
Victorian funfair and a heritage farmyard, where a selection of
traditional farm animals will be on show. You can also see farriers
at work, as the Show hosts the largest farriery competition of heavy
horses in England, with over 50 competitors. And if that’s not
enough, there is also the chance to do a bit of retail therapy with
over 200 trade stands, a craft fair and food hall.
Andrew Mercer, Chief Executive said,
"It is vital that as a nation we continue to support this breed
before it becomes too late and the Shire Horse Spring Show is a
fantastic way of doing exactly that, offering a superb display of
heritage for the whole family to enjoy."
