The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor Michael Burton, will host a
'Last Night of the Proms' with the world famous Foss Dyke Band to
help raise money for the Mayor's charities at the Broadway Theatre
on Sunday 22 April, at 7.30 pm.
Guaranteed to be a great social
occasion, the programme is supported by the Gildenburgh Choir and
includes a James Bond medley, a Rogers and Hammerstein composition,
as well as a Sinatra session.
Tickets are available from the
Broadway Theatre at £10 for adults and £7.50 for senior citizen
concessions.
A raffle with over 30 prizes will be
held during the evening and the top prize is a washing machine
donated by Indesit. Other major prizes have been given by Debenhams
and John Lewis.
All proceeds will go to the Mayor's
charities - Age Concern Peterborough, Diabetes UK and the
Peterborough branch of SSAFA Forces Help.
Councillor Burton said: “The ‘Last
Night of the Proms’ promises to be a great evening out where people
can really enjoy themselves. I am sure the programme for the evening
will be very well received and the raffle will be extremely popular
as there are some fantastic prizes. I am delighted to be hosting
this event on behalf of my charities.”
He added: “I would like to thank
Axiom Housing, Barclays Bank and the Peterborough Evening Telegraph,
who have given large contributions towards supporting this event.”
