The Pigeons fly back into Peterborough

Lifestyle | Article

Without doubt one of the hottest new bands to emerge over the past few months have confirmed that they’re coming back to Peterborough to play at The Cresset Centre in Bretton on Sunday 4th November.

The Pigeon Detective were yet another band that were virtually unknown when they first came to Peterborough last October to play at The Met Lounge.

And yet again The Met proves that when it comes to picking out future bands that will hit the big time then it has no equal in this area!!

Shortly after the date at The Met it started to happen for The Pigeons ….

A short Xmas 06 tour as opening act for mates The Kaiser Chiefs raised their profile somewhat and then a Top 20 hit with the single ‘ I found out’ raised the bar a little more.

The Pigeon Detectives

Another support tour in bigger venues such as Alexandra Palace with the Kaisers playing to as many as 8000 people a night in the Spring of 2007 really brought the band to the attention of a lot of people and when the band released their debut album ‘Wait for me’ (produced by Peterborough Sound engineer Andy Hawkins) then it received reviews such as ‘The best 12 pop sings we’ve heard in ages’ from the NME and ‘This is surely punk pop as God intended it’ 4/5 by Mojo magazine then it all came to a head for the band.

The album entered the charts at #3 – not a bad start for a debut album!!

The 2nd single from the album ‘ I’m not sorry’ became a staple dancefloor filler at Student / indie clubs across the country and the band played 2 nights at The Town Hall in their home town of Leeds to over 4000 people and opened up the mainstage at this years ‘ Radio 1 Big Day Out’ Festival in Preston.

The band have just announced their biggest ever UK tour for December and are coming back to Peterborough to play The Cresset on Sunday 4th November. The concert is being promoted by The Met Lounge and promises to be a veritable ‘meeting place’ for ALL the indie music fans in the area on that night! – over 1000 people expected for the show – 500 tickets are already been sold for the concert in just 3 weeks!

Advance tickets are on sale now from The Met Lounge or The City Club Peterborough priced at £11.50 for cash purchases. You can also buy from The Cresset where a £1.50 booking fee is charged or online at

The event is open to 14+ but all under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult/18+. Doors open at 7pm
