Peterborough Libraries are hosting a series of events to help people
who want to learn how to use the internet.
The free sessions, to be staged at
libraries all around the city, will begin on Tuesday and end on
Friday 23 October 2009, which is national Get Online Day 2009. This
is an annual event organised by UK Online, a central Government
organisation.
Pete Aldridge, Peterborough City
Council's learning and information librarian for Peterborough
Libraries, said: "This is a great opportunity for people to find out
what computers and the internet are all about in a friendly and
supportive environment."
On Wednesday 21 October, there will
be a presentation ceremony at Peterborough Central Library, during
which learners who have recently completed the UK Online 'Myguide
Computers for Beginners' course will be given certificates to mark
their achievement. This particular group of learners have been using
library computer facilities as part of a partnership project with
Age Concern.
The event, which is by invitation
only, will take place between 3.30pm and 4pm.
