Race ambassador Mike Hare said runners should register now to
guarantee themselves a place. He said: "The Perkins Great Eastern
Run grows in popularity every year and attracts interest from across
the country.
"This year, we hope to attract more
runners than ever, and are urging those who want to take part to get
their entries in early. It promises to be a fantastic event."
For the first time this year, the
event bears the name of its principal supporter, Peterborough-based
Perkins Engines Company Ltd.
Perkins' marketing communication
services manager Adrian Talbot said: "The Perkins Great Eastern Run
is one of the jewels in Peterborough's crown and a key highlight on
the region's calendar. It is a pleasure to be associated with this
event, and we look forward to yet another great year."
The half-marathon and fun run were
revived by Peterborough City Council in 2006 after a 10-year break
and have gone from strength to strength ever since.
Peterborough City Council's cabinet
member for community services Councillor Matthew Lee said: "The
Perkins Great Eastern Run attracts people from all walks of life -
from elite athletes and club runners to amateurs who are seeking an
exciting challenge.
"The event provides a fantastic
opportunity to get yourself fit, achieve personal goals and raise
money for charity."
