Peterborough Festival in partnership
with Peterborough Film Society have organised an exclusive screening
of the three-times academy award-winning film Pan’s Labyrinth at the
John Clare Theatre on Thursday 5 July at 7.30 pm.
Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has
produced a unique epic with Pan’s Labyrinth, his sixth and most
ambitious film - a gothic fairy tale set against the post-war
repression of Franco’s Spain. |

Harnessing the formal characteristics of classic folklore to
a 20th century landscape, del Toro delivers a timeless tale of good
and evil, bravery and sacrifice, love and loss.
“Pan’s Labyrinth is part of
Peterborough Film Society’s arts cinema programme, which is screened
at the John Clare Theatre,” said Joseph Ballard, Peterborough
Festival manager. “This exclusive festival showing is a must for all
film buffs and those who want to see one of the best films of the
past year. A box office hit around the world, it has won critical
acclaim wherever it has been shown and will complement The Space4
Shorts Film Festival, which takes place at the Key Theatre during
Peterborough Festival.”
The film unfolds through the eyes
of Ofelia, a little girl who is uprooted to a rural military outpost
commanded by her new stepfather. Her loneliness and vivid
imagination lead her to a fantastic discovery of an incredible stone
labyrinth near her new home. When she ventures inside, she discovers
a surreal world full of mythical creatures.
Pan’s Labyrinth is being shown at
the John Clare Theatre, Broadway, in Peterborough, on Thursday 5
July at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available on the door and cost £5 each,
£4 concessions. For further information or to book your ticket now,
