Horses of all shapes and sizes will
feature strongly throughout the Show as always. Show Jumping will be
returning to the main arena this year, guaranteeing an action packed
equestrian timetable for spectators in the Grandstand. There will
also be classes for all breeds of horses from Shires to Shetlands.
Vintage agricultural machinery,
steam and classic cars will have a larger section this year and the
demonstrations and parades by these magnificent machines will be a
treat for all nostalgia buffs. One of the stars of this section will
be Thorney’s 1908 Steam Fire Engine.
Food remains at the heart of the
Show and children will be able to come along and cook a Great
British Pasty, and along the way find out how their food gets from
the farm to their plate. The Food Hall will contain many of the
region’s best food and drink producers, selling their delicious
produce. You will also be able to gain inspiration in the food
demonstration theatre, while on Friday the finalists in the School
Food Challenge will amaze you with their skills as they battle it
out for this prestigious trophy.
Few will be able to resist the
Peterborough International Orchid Show. Exhibitors come from all
over the world to display their magnificent blooms and compete for
prestigious awards.
There will be live music and dance
on stage throughout the weekend, and Saturday night headliners will
be singing sensations the New Seekers.
There is plenty of opportunity for
retail therapy, with over 400 retail stands to choose from,
including lifestyle and fashion, a craft fair and the Food Hall.
Chief Executive of the East of
England Agricultural Society, Andrew Mercer, said: ‘This year’s Show
will really focus in on the farming core of the Show. The Show will
continue to entertain and inform people about farming, food and all
things rural. It is also a fabulous day out for the whole family,
with something of interest for all ages.’
