Laugh your way through autumn at The Cresset

Lifestyle | Article

Comedy stars from the stage and screen are coming to The Cresset this autumn – and they’re on a mission to have city audiences rolling in the aisles.

The cream of comic talent ranges from the dry wit of Jimmy Carr to the downright rude and lewd Ricky Tomlinson – with a gaggle of great funnymen in between.

Jimmy Carr kicks off the autumn comedy run on September 5th when he brings his ‘Rapier Wit’ tour to The Cresset.

Appearing at The Cresset this Autumn

Jimmy is putting on two shows to meet the demand for his tickets – one at 7pm and another at 10pm. He is best known for hosting the hit TV shows Eight Out Of Ten Cats and Commercial Breakdown, but his stand-up performances see him at his best. Tickets cost £22.50

Dave Gorman brings his ‘Sit Down, Pedal, Pedal, Stop And Stand Up’ tour to The Cresset on Thursday, September 10th. Comedy genius Dave will be travelling between each of the 32 venues on the tour by pushbike! His show starts at 8pm and tickets cost £15.

Multi award-winning comedian Jason Manford will be appearing on October 15th. He is best known for guest appearances on TV’s Live At The Apollo, Eight Of Out Ten Cats and the Secret Policeman’s Ball. Tickets cost £15, and his show begins at 8pm.

Fans of BBC TV’s The Royle Family are in for a treat when the head of the clan, Jim Royle – aka Ricky Tomlinson – visits The Cresset on November 7th. Ricky will don Jim’s mucky vest to be interviewed by Elton Welsby for the first half of the show, before reappearing as fictitious football manager Mike Bassett after the interval. He will also be taking questions from the audience in what promises to be a hilarious evening’s entertainment. Tickets cost £17 and the show starts at 7.30pm.

Just a day later, Kevin Bloody Wilson brings his hilarious songs and anecdotes to The Cresset. Kevin is no stranger to the venue and has built up a huge following all over the world. He will appear on Sunday, November 8th at 7.30pm and tickets cost £20.

Charming comedian Stephen K Amos will be appearing at The Cresset on November 14th in a brand new show that oozes the ‘Feelgood Factor’. This will be Stephen’s third UK tour as a solo stand-up artist which has already earned him rave reviews. Dubbed ‘inspiring, acutely clever and irresistibly funny’, Stephen is promising his fans a night to remember. Tickets cost £16.50 and his show begins at 7.30pm.

Finally, to round off a year of great comedy entertainment at The Cresset, Cornish comedian Jethro will be visiting the city on November 19th. Another Cresset favourite, Jethro is a fantastic storyteller and has built up a huge following. Tickets to his show, which begins at 7.30pm, cost £18.
