Dancing delight at The Cresset this October

Comedy, music and a few old favourites headline The Cresset in October as the theatre confirms it’s back on track with a packed schedule of shows.

From Argentinean tango to Irish dancing with the music of Abba and The Rolling Stones thrown in, it’s a month for dancing at the Bretton venue in Peterborough.

Regulars Sally Morgan and Charlie Landsborough always attract the crowds, while The Cresset’s reputation for great comedy continues with Gyles Brandreth and new talent selling out the Comedy Club.

Tango Pasion brings a taste of Argentina to the city on October 1. The new show features 12 of Buenos Aires finest tango dancers in a passionate and sensual performance sure to captivate the audience. Tickets cost £21 and doors open at 7pm.

The ever-popular Comedy Club returns on Oct 15 featuring surreal Canadian Tony Law, Duncan Oakley’s musical comedy, Comedy Idol winner Colin Owens, and TV funnyman Tom Price. Tickets cost from £10 and doors open at 7.15pm.

Another Cresset regular returns in the form of Charlie Landsborough. Described as “one of life’s true gentlemen”, Charlie and his five-piece band bring their range of heartfelt tunes and human anecdotes to Peterborough on October 17. Tickets cost £17.50 and doors open at 7.30pm.

From one regular to another, a season at The Cresset wouldn’t be the same without Sally Morgan. The fans’ favourite re-creates her new TV series Psychic Sally on the Road for theatre. Tickets are selling out fast for the show on October 20. The cost £20.50 and doors open at 7pm.

If the Argentinean Tango didn’t get you dancing, Essence of Ireland surely will. On October 21, the breathtaking mix of traditional and modern Irish dancing promises to mesmerise audiences, promising to top Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Tickets cost £20 and doors open at 7.30pm.

Theatre-goers ready for a boogie are sure to head for The Cresset on October 22 when Waterloo visits. Europe’s largest totally live ultimate Abba show features hits such as Mamma Mia, Voulez Vous and Dancing Queen to get you dancing in the aisles. Tickets cost £17.50 and doors open at 7.30pm.

In a change of pace, next up is Gyles Brandreth: The One-to-One Show on October 28. The actor, author, former MP and government whip turns stand-up for an evening of wit, wordplay and name-dropping. Tickets cost £16 and doors open at 7.30pm.

Rounding off a packed month, The Stones pay tribute to the real Rolling Stones on October 29 with a night of hits including Satisfaction, Jumping Jack Flash and Honkey Tonk Woman – will you be able to tell the difference? Tickets cost £16 and doors open at 7.30pm.
