New night for 13-17 year olds

Lifestyle | Article

A brand new night specifically for the 13-17 year olds in Peterborough and beyond who feel that current 'teenage' nights don't cater for them starts on Weds 15th July at The Met Lounge, Bridge Street, Peterborough.

The night has been brought about simply by requests made from the many teenage music fans who attend concerts at The Met Lounge and want somewhere to meet up and enjoy the music that they see live on stage.

Club owner and promoter Steve Jason said, "It would seem that current 'u18's nights in the city tend to concentrate musically on chart/dance/R&B music which is fine but it's not the genres of music that we promote on our live concerts (or include our 18+ club sessions) at The Met. We tend to look after the alternative/rock/indie bands.

"A lot of the teenagers that support these shows have asked us in the past to start a club night for them and its got to the point now whereby its hard to ignore their requests!!"

Club 13-17 at the Met Lounge

The first night will be on Weds 15th July and the session will run from 7.30pm-10.30pm every Wednesday until schools start again in September.

Advance tickets will cost £8 for the club night or £10 on the door which will include FREE soft drinks all night - The Met has acknowledged the lead set by another club by offering an 'all inclusive' price for the night so that parents know that once they're bought the tickets then they do not need to their children anymore money for the night.

Advance tickets can be purchased from club reception or online at www.ticketweb.co.uk

By finishing at 10.30pm then most Peterborough based people will be able to catch the last buses home and to ensure the safety of the teenagers then a Met Lounge member of security will escort those requiring it back to the Queensgate Bus Station and will wait until people have caught their bus home.

The music policy has been hand picked by a group of 15-17 year old 'gig' regulars at the club and will feature the following bands:

PENDULUM / ARCTIC MONKEYS / DIZZEE RASCAL / KINGS OF LEON / PRODIGY / THE KILLERS / KAISER CHIEFS / MGMT / ONE NIGHT ONLY / THE WOMBATS / MAXIMO PARK / THE ENEMY / BLOC PARTY / HADOUKEN / ENTER SHIKARI / THE KOOKS / KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES / BIFFY CLYRO / PARAMORE / MUSE / FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND / FIGHTSTAR / LOSTPROPHETS / FRANZ FERDINAND / RISE AGAINST / GASLIGHT ANTHEM / METALLICA / IRON MAIDEN / JIMMY EAT WORLD / KLAXONS / TC / THE PIGEON DETECTIVES / THE STREETS / THE SUBWAYS / SYSTEM OF A DOWN / WE ARE THE OCEAN / YOU ME AT SIX
