The Cresset has played host to some great gigs recently, including
Terrorvision, Seth Lakeman and The Levellers. And it has teamed up
with local promoters, such as Steve Jason and Jon Morgan, to stage
gigs by bands including Reel Big Fish, Ocean Colour Scene and, most
recently, We Are Scientists.
Now, with the launch of a packed
Autumn programme of C2 events rapidly approaching, the Cresset is
aiming to focus on bringing more live acts to the city – from large
scale concerts to smaller, more intimate, stand-up events.
Cresset managing director Julian
Stanley said: “This is an exciting new initiative for the Cresset.
The atmosphere, acoustics and feel of the venue has evoked extremely
positive audience reactions to each of the live bands that have
played the Cresset in the past year. Musicians also love the space.
“C2 Sessions is the natural
development of this success, and our intention is to reach audiences
of all ages across Peterborough and surrounding areas. We want to
help put the Cresset as a venue, and Peterborough as a city, on the
live music map more firmly than ever before.”
Fans can expect more C2 Sessions in
November – with the Altamont “Never Say Die” Tour 2008 on November
14 and Welsh rockers Feeder performing on November 28.
The Never Say Die tour promises an
explosive line-up of some of the world’s most hardcore metal bands,
including Parkway Drive, Despised Icon and Architects.
The creation of a specialist music
venue at The Cresset has been welcomed by The Brays lead singer
Gavin Hyde, who said he was thrilled to be leading the launch of the
first of C2 Sessions next month.
He said: “We are delighted to have
been invited back to The Cresset again. It is a real credit to the
bands in the current local music scene that The Cresset bosses have
put their faith in an event like this with local artists making up
the bill. The acoustics at The Cresset make it a great venue for
live music and we hope that audiences will think so, too.”
The Brays are no strangers to The
Cresset, having already supported The Levellers and We Are
Scientists there this year. They have had a great year so far,
having just released their latest single Sin. Support act Mesh 29
will also unveil new material at the first C2 Sessions, as its
second album Secret Traffic is due for release just days after the
city gig.

Tickets for the concert on October
18 cost just £7 in advance or £8 on the night.
Doors open at 6pm and youngsters aged between 14 and 16 must be
accompanied by an adult.
