Polly (30), a former member of the British squad for the 2005 European
Championships will ride Megastar. It will also be the first visit to
Burghley for the 12-year-old Australian bred gelding.
The Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials
which were initiated in 1961 take place each year in the grounds of
historic Burghley House, one of the country’s finest Elizabethan
houses, and are now one of the most important international
competitions in the sport of eventing. The four days of world class
competition will attract thousands of spectators to the park on
Saturday for an exciting day of cross country action. Alongside the
main competition a full programme of arena entertainment and
supporting competitions have been put in place and include; dressage
to music with international trainer Ferdi Eilberg, the finals of the
Burghley Dubarry Young Event Horse, a parade of 20 sport horse
stallions, the SEIB racehorse to riding horse qualifier for the
Horse of the Year Show and music from the Band and Bugles of the
Rifles
And Burghley would not be Burghley
without the 500 trade stands and five pavilions that offer an
unrivalled shopping opportunity with some of the best food,
clothing, bespoke furniture, crafts, jewellery, garden and
equestrian products that the country has to offer.
