POSH will be supporting ASBAH by doing all they can to raise awareness
of the local charity, including advertising ASBAH in their
programmes, assisting with fundraising, donating prizes to
competitions and encouraging players to attend charity fundraising
events.
Recently POSH welcomed Abdula Ali
and Michael Ravenhill, who both have hydrocephalus, to meet some of
POSH’s players.
Colin Roberts, ASBAH’s Director of
Fundraising said, “I am so pleased that POSH has chosen to support
ASBAH, especially as our head office, eastern region office and
national helpline are based in the city.
"I hope
that association with POSH will create greater awareness of ASBAH’s
presence in Peterborough and also lead to greater fundraising for
the services that ASBAH provides.”
POSH’s assistance in supporting
ASBAH’s fundraising has already proved a great success, with
supporters recently donating small change to a collection for the
charity as they entered the ground. In just over one hour generous
football fans donated more than £300.
Peterborough is the home of both
ASBAH’s head office and national helpline, which provides advice and
assistance to those affected by spina bifida or hydrocephalus.
ASBAH’s goal is to provide help on
any matter related to hydrocephalus or spina bifida – from the role
of folic acid in preventing spina bifida, to independent living for
adults with the disabilities. ASBAH also have an area adviser who is
able to visit local people affected by either hydrocephalus or spina
bifida in their home or workplace.
