Back in April we went to the coast when the planes were grounded by the volcanic ash cloud.
The sky was wonderfully clear, I can't remember the last time I saw a completely clear blue sky like that.
I supposed I'm so used to seeing them, they're part of what I expect to see in sky.
If you lived near an airport you'd probably be less likely to see them as the planes are lower down. Contrails form at around 30,000 feet I believe.
