Well at least the City is happy.

The rest of us can go to hell.

Let's sit back as the city gets the protection it needs, all the bailouts it can
eat, as it jets off to it's tax havens to spend time with their money as the rest
of us get to pick up the tab for their recklessness.

Times are going to be very interesting!

Yes Colgrin, if this can prevent us from going into something like Greecian meltdown. For god's sake be happy why can't you? We still remain the centre of world finance.

Colgrin, its confidence coming back! Can't you just feel it? I am quite excited by the prospect of a broad representative coalition.  This is new ground, surely?  It reflects what the electorate voted for in many ways, more voices to be heard.  Those in power now have a big responsibility to make it work for those people who voted for them but I guess if one voted for Lib or Con there's going to have to be some compromise on both sides, but that's just living as we all know and it will be refreshing to see the leaders live like us in that respect.

Try as I might I just can't be optimistic about the next few years.

The tories banged on endlessly about people taking responsibilities and
not expecting government handouts yet made absolutely no mention at
all about extending that to the institutions that created the crisis that
ended up doubling our debt.

Protection for the rich, the poor can get stuffed.

The lib dems, to their credit, were the only one of the main parties that
even mentioned a fairer situation where the banks should be reigned in,
but I guess that's all talk, as usual.

The only consolation was that gordo wouldn't have done any better.

So our public services are going to be cut so that the rich can jet off to
their tax havens. This aint free markets, this aint even capitalism. This is
looting. And the tories want to cheer it on.

As for the coalition, I hope cleggy knows what he is letting himself and
his party in for. If things go well the tories will claim the credit. If things
go pear shaped, the lib dems will be blasted for propping up an
unpopular tory government.
