So ....

All the media coverage and hype that has been bombarding us over the past four weeks has managed to achieve one thing.

That is, to totally confuse the average British voter

What a shambles it's going to be !

I think the coverage of this election has been woeful. Very little, if any, of the actual policies have been discussed so all we are left with is basically who has the best haircut.

Also absent was any mention, considering that Mr iPod “just call me dave” had a 20 point lead over comrade mcbroon, the financial crash, the bigot comment and so on that he has made no headway at all, in fact he has squandered all that to bring us a hung parliament.

I am surprised that Labour haven’t done worse.

The real big shock is just how badly the Lib Dems have done. I thought they would have done far better, and rightly so, than they have.

I only hope that a hung parliament is able to bring us some changes in the electoral system. I mean look at the voting figures.

Conservative        10,135,228 votes and 290 seats
Labour               8,194,900 and 247 seats
Liberal Democrat    6,421,841 and 51 seats.

Libdems got that many votes, yet they only have 51 seats – that’s absurd.

I think it was fairly accurate , the media generally was predicting a hung Parliament quite regularly.

It will be a shambles and it seems that people are divided in who to turn to for a way forward.

Sterling was holding up against other currencies while they thought the Tories would get in early in the night.  Sterling is now taking an early bath on the back of future uncertainty.  Gilt yields have risen, in other words, UK govy debt interest is on the up.

Well I guess Clegg is going to be the deciding factor in what goes next.

Will he stick to his guns and insist on electoral reform and go with comrade Mcbroon or will he tell ipod Cameron , “ok guy, off you go” and leave the weak tory government to stew in their own juices.

Or will he cave in and show his true colours and confirm many peoples, suspicions and side with iPod cameron.

Cameron for number 10.

Cable for number 11.

Brown down the dole office.

I love it! For the first time people are forcing the issue in real time.

And yes Adman, it looks likely, though the fat lady hasn't finished singing her song.

There is, of course, the not so small matter of not blowing most of our money on Trident and changes to the voting system.

So looks like things are hanging in the balance at the mo.

So long as we ....

1) Don't join the Euro

2) Pull out of Afganistan

3) Cancel the Olympics

we should be ok

Ahh, the Olympics. The cost of which will hit 20 billion at least.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/may/07/hung-par liament-markets

A nicely balanced article which highlights some of our current dangers which are being largely overlooked in favour of the PR argument.
I would suggest that the LibDems swallow their pride on this issue which will only give us this type of uncertainty and inertia ad infinitum and get to grips with the urgent problems, shore up the Damocles sword and debate political niceties later on.
