The Show is organised by the Shire Horse Society, a registered charity,
and helps to raise much needed funds to support the threatened breed and
secure its future, especially among the younger generation. It also
raises awareness of the breed and aims to promote its future as a
working and leisure horse.
Visitors to the Show, which attracts
thousands of crowds from across the country, as well as overseas, will
be able to see hundreds of Shire horses expertly presented and dressed
in their traditional glory.
You can marvel at the skills of the
farrier, as the show hosts the largest farriery competition on heavy
horses in England. There is also a display of vintage tractors and farm
machinery and the fast and furious activity of dog agility. There is fun
for all the family, including the Victorian funfair and a wide variety
of trade stands.
Family tickets are valued at £16.50 each
(on the gate), they are valid
for either Saturday or Sunday (Friday entry is free of charge to all) and admit 2 adults and 2 children on either the Saturday
or Sunday, not both days. Tickets are not transferable and no substitute
will be offered.
