The 57th Annual General Meeting - 12 October 2009 at
St Marks Church Hall, Lincoln Road (opposite TOM LOCK) commencing 7.30pm

Committee members report and answer questions on the previous year's society business along with the formal presentation of the Society Annual Report and Accounts.

Summer Visits Programme 2009

Please note our summer visits programme is now completed.

Guided tour of Hampton - Monday 20th April 2009.
Following Roger Tallowin's talk to the Society in October 2008, he has agreed to give members a guided tour of the development. We will travel round in two 8-seater landrovers, so early booking is essential. Meet at O & H Hampton's offices at Hemptstead Barn, 285 London Road, PE7 0LD at 5.15pm for 5.30 start. There is a charge of £2.50 which will be donated to Froglife.


Holme Fen

The Great Fen Project - Monday 18th May 2009
Guided tour of Holme Fen by Alan Bowley, senior reserve manager for the Great Fen Project. Places need to be booked in advance and there is charge of £2.50 which will be donated to the project. Meet at Holme Fen Post at 6.15pm for 6.30pm start - the Post is located by turning east off the Yaxley/Holme Road - look out for the sign.


Peterborough Cathedral

Ground Level tour of Peterborough Cathedral - Monday 8th June 2009.
Following the success of our tour of the Cathedral Tower last year a tour of the lower level of the Cathedral has been arranged. Henry Mansell Duckett, both a member of thhe Society and a Cathedral Guide, will be our host and no doubt have some fascinating information to impart.

Places are limited so please book your place without delay by submitting your application form with payment of £4.00 (£3.00 for pensioners) to Tony Knighton (not Grace Taylor) using the application form sent out with the Spring Newsletter or telephone Tony on 314861. We assemble at the west front at 6.15pm for a 6.30pm prompt start.


Ferry Meadows Visitor Centre

Guided talk of Ferry Meadows - Monday 13 July 2009.
Guided talk of Ferry Meadows by one of the Rangers of the Nene Park Trust. We meet at the Visitors Centre at 6.15pm where the Ranger will give us a brief talk before escorting the party round places of interest in Ferry Meadows. Places are limited so please send in your application form with payment of £2.50 towards costs to Grace Taylor tel 263127 without delay. The application form is in the Spring Newsletter.

If you would like to come but need to use a mobility scooter please let Grace know with your application so that suitable arrangements can be made.

Our Chairman, Peter Lee welcomes members and guests to his special evening
Our speaker is Dr Angus Kennedy OBE and his subject is Regeneration Lessons

Dr Angus Kennedy OBE is one of the country's leading regeneration practitioners. From 1993 to 2005 he was Chief Executive of Castle Vale Housing Action which, in 2003 was identified as one of the top six Regeneration Agencies in England.

In his current role as Chief Executive of Community Regeneration Partnership, he has worked on a range of projects for government, RSLs, private developers, the Academy of Sustainable Communities, and others.

Angus was born and bred in Helpston, and Peterborough now benefits from his experience through his roles as a board member of Opportunity Peterborough and as Chairman of Cross Keys Homes Ltd (who are also one of our corporate members).

Angus was awarded his OBE in 2004 for Services to Social Housing in Birmingham

Committee meetings are normally arranged on the first Monday of each month throughout the year, except January and May which are on the second Monday.
