Spring 2000

Spring and things

The Vernal Equinox or the first day of spring is -75 days away, March 20 at 7:35 AM to be precise. A calendar month after that on April 20 is Good Friday, the first public holiday after the new year.

Once the winter blues are out of the way and the spring cleaning is finished it's a good time to get out and about. A quick cycle round the Millennium Green Wheel might be a good start to blow the cobwebs off, but don't get too carried away. There's plenty of time to build up to the full circuit! Why not take it a little easy and visit one of the three heritage centres at Flag Fen, Nene Park and Hampton with different aspects of Peterborough's heritage and the challenge of sustainable development?

Don't forget to pop along to our most notable landmark the Cathedral. With its new visitor centre and great walks around the grounds it's especially nice in the spring time and well worth a visit. Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre is great for us townies who want to know a bit more about what goes on in the fields and farms we drive by.

Then there's the National Motor Homes Show on the 14-16 and Truckfest at the end of April at the Showground for great family days out. Who needs Paris in the spring time when we've got great stuff on our own door step?
