Peterborough’s Ray Smith Group has become a key driving force behind
the commercial vehicle industry’s premier international exhibition.
As well as exhibiting its innovative
new products and equipment at the Commercial Vehicle Show the company
is involved with organising the event, which is set to be the biggest
yet. The exhibition is expected to attract over 20,000 visitors to see
500 companies and organisations that are exhibiting at the National
Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham from 30 April to 2 May 2002.
David Browning, joint managing
director of Ray Smith Group and vice chairman of the exhibition
organising committee, has played a major role in establishing the
exhibition since it was launched three years ago.
Ray Smith Group is the market leader
in demountable systems and cantilever tail lifts for commercial
vehicles and will be introducing at the exhibition a new 1 tonne tail
lift which offers many significant benefits over existing models. Its
unique design means that it is lighter, easier to use, more durable
and cheaper to maintain.
Also on display will be the company’s
innovative Metroswap system which enables a driver to swap truck
bodies between vehicles without the need for additional help or
external lifting aids. This makes it much simpler and easier to
exchange truck bodies between big vehicles, used for long-distance
haulage, and the smaller vehicles used for regional distribution.
The Metroswap system is going into
service with a major clothing and furnishing group which is installing
it on its fleet of 70 vehicles.
