Peterborough business seminar a great success

Business | Press | News

More than 80 people from the Peterborough business community attended a breakfast briefing seminar last week organised by two local firms; Hegarty & Co Solicitors and Rawlinsons Chartered Accountants.

The seminar was aimed at directors and those responsible for managing employees. The briefing covered new disciplinary and grievance procedures that will be introduced in October 2004, a review of the complex regulations concerning transactions between a company and its directors and an overview of directors’ liabilities.

The speakers were Tim Thompson and Michael Green from Hegarty & Co Solicitors and Ken Craig from Rawlinsons Chartered Accountants.

Employment Partner Tim Thomson explained, ”Directors are so busy running their businesses, its no wonder they find it difficult to keep abreast of current legislation. In this seminar they learnt about the major changes in discipline and grievance procedures, and also the legal demands upon them as directors and some of the common reasons why they fail in their duties.”

Ken Craig, Partner at Rawlinsons Chartered Accountants, said, “We were very pleased at the number of delegates, and many of our clients commented on how worthwhile it was for them to attend the seminar. Based upon the success of this seminar we would like to make this a regular event in the Peterborough business calendar.”
