The group created by the ‘Pop Stars’
series, Hear’Say set a new record for fastest sales for a debut
single when they sold 549,823 copies in the first week.
‘Pop Idols’ winner Will Young
shattered that with 1,108,269 sales of his single Evergeen/Anything is

The ‘Pop Stars’ dream is alive and
well and living in Peterborough, where young hopefuls are being given
their own chance at making it into the big time.
Star Studios, at the Towermead
Business Centre in Fletton run monthly competitions to find
Peterborough’s own Popstar. The winners will get their own song
written for them, lessons from a professional voice coach and a
professional studio to produce it.
Twenty thousand copies of a CD will be
made, and the organisers are expecting massive TV, radio and press
Star Studios’ spokesman Gary Lorimer
said: "We’re giving local companies the chance to get on board
with this phenomenon.
"The CDs, our videos and even the
studios here are available for sponsorship.
"This is a fantastic opportunity
for local businesses to become part of what we firmly believe will be
a resounding success.
"We’re expecting a lot of
interest, though, so we’re urging companies that want an ideal
vehicle to carry their name to talk to us quickly, before somebody
else gets there first."
Star Studios’ complex opened last
year amidst a huge amount of media interest.
As well as their professional studio
facilities, the complex has a 2500 square foot area for fun and
activities, used by the Popstar Out of School Club.
Schools, youth workers and parents are
frequent users of the place.
