Staff at city-based Norwich and Peterborough,
East Anglia's largest building society, are celebrating their success after
N&P scored highly in an annual survey on UK companies.
The survey was undertaken by PressWatch, a publication which monitors and evaluates national press coverage
of companies in the UK. In the building society section N&P (the UK's 13th
largest building society) came second (to Nationwide - the world's no 1 building
society) out of all building societies. In the all company sector, the Society
came 62nd our of 5,000 companies, beating many international "household
name" companies far larger than N&P.
Richard Saunders, General Manager
of PressWatch, said: "1999 was an excellent year for Norwich and
Peterborough in terms of media coverage because of their product range and
branch service. The Society's ISAs, TESSAs Internet banking facilities, 'green'
and self-build mortgages were all singled out for favourable comment."
Norwich and Peterborough's public
relations team, based at Lynch Wood business park in Peterborough, consists of
Alison Lipscombe (Head of Communications), Anna Guthrie (PR Manager) and Laura
Hogg (PR Officer).
Alison has worked for the Society
for 11 years. She said: "We are so thrilled to have achieved second place
out of all building societies for the second consecutive year. Our philosophy is
simple - we try and provide the best service we can. In my opinion the Society
couldn't achieve everything it does if it wasn't an independent, regional
organisation, that puts its customers first."
