Minster distributes new charter for residents

Business | Press | News

A new charter that explains what standards housing association residents and tenancy applicants can expect has been distributed to all of Minster General Housing Association’s properties in Peterborough.

All tenants are encouraged to read a copy of the charter, which has been published by the Housing Corporation, the regulatory authority for housing associations.

Snowhills, Yaxley

The charter, which has been awarded a Clear English Standard from the Plain Language Commission, explains what housing associations must do to comply with regulations imposed by the Housing Corporation. It also describes any additional ‘good practice’ standards with which housing associations should normally comply.

The information covers such things as the process of applying for a home, the rights and responsibilities of residents and housing associations, the obligations on housing associations to consult with residents and how residents can make a complaint.

Minster chief executive Steve Wilson said: “The charter is an important document both for tenants and housing associations as it outlines their obligations to ensure a high level of service is maintained.

“Minster is committed to providing high levels of service and excellence for its tenants and neighbourhoods and has distributed the charter to ensure that all residents are aware of its obligations.”
