Do your Tax Return online - for free!

A screen shot from i.e. taxguard's online service

Local tax firm i.e. taxguard has launched a new free service to it's website to help people prepare their tax returns. The service makes the whole process quicker and easier through a step by step interview that guides you through each stage and the tax calculation can be done at the click of a button.

Director, Shaun Crozier, commented, "Completing your tax return can be a major chore: the average taxpayer should set aside up to five hours to wade through the paper version. And as the Inland Revenue's 30th September deadline has passed all taxpayers now filling in their returns for 2000 / 2001 also have to complete their own 15 page self assessment tax calculation."

"We are pleased to be able to offer people a simpler way to complete their tax returns through our website".

The system went live on 4th October and can be checked out at www.ietaxguard.co.uk

You can use the system to complete your tax return if you have income from an employment or from self employment, pensions, stocks and shares and cash investments. You can also use the system to claim your personal tax allowances and tax reliefs for pension contributions and other allowable payments.

When your tax return and calculation are complete you can quickly submit them to the Inland Revenue online if you have registered at the government gateway. The Inland Revenue is not able to accept complex online returns at this stage so if you have any other types of income don't panic i.e. taxguard have a range other personal tax services to meet your needs.

You don't need to download any software to produce the return, as long as you have Adobe Acrobat on your PC to view or print the completed form. Once you have entered your details on the system they can be stored securely so that when it comes to completing your Tax Return for the 2001/2002 tax year all the basic data is already there - all you will need to do is enter the new figures.
