1000 Milestone Reached

An innovative and ground breaking e-mail service run by a local firm of solicitors has just passed the milestone of signing up it’s 1000th user, and within a week is already well on the way to reaching 1100.

The service, called employment law e-ssentials aims to give managers involved in employing people up to the minute news and information on employment law issues in e-mail format. The service was launched as part of Hegarty & Co’s internet and e-mail strategy, and has proved to be a hit across the UK.

Speaking about the success, Marketing Manager Mark Dodds said: “The fact that we have now exceeded the 1000th registration is I think testament to the way the service has gone down with managers and business owners who want to be kept up to speed with employment issues. Most of our new registrations come from existing recipients telling their colleagues and I think this speaks volumes for how e-ssentials is perceived and valued by employers.”

Mark went on to say that the range of organisations who receive the bulletins covers the whole spectrum of businesses.

“We cannot mention specific names, but at one end of the scale we have a fish and chip shop in Peterborough, whilst at the other we have two Formula One racing teams, Government Departments, and companies employing thousands of people. This shows how employment law affects every size of business, and the need to be kept up to date is paramount.

“Because the service is free, larger organisations can have more than one registration, and in some of our larger companies who are run on a regional basis, we have all the regional managers registered, so they are all kept up to date at the same time.”

employment law e-ssentials has been so successful that another service has been added to the e-ssentials range, dealing with commercial property law. Mark said: “There is a clear demand for relevant information and extending the service to commercial property law adds another string to our bow, and assists our clients and contacts in keeping up to date with developments.”

Mark said that when setting up e-ssentials, there were four key elements, which he wanted to build in to the service, in order to maintain the ‘ethical quality’ of the service.

“It was very important from the start to make it clear that e-ssentials is not a regular newsletter or an excuse to bombard people with unwanted e-mails. We only issue a bulletin when we think there is something to say – we may go two or three weeks without a bulletin and then issue two on consecutive days if we feel it is right.”

The four keys to the success of e-ssentials:

  • the service is free

  • the bulletins are in plain English

  • e-ssentials recipients do not receive unwanted e-mails from Hegarty & Co

  • confidentiality is total - the recipients’ details are never passed onto other organisations, and recipients do not know who else is registered with the service.

Mark finished by saying how e-ssentials products were an important element in Hegarty & Co’s marketing strategy.

“In today’s market, we find that clients want to be dealing with innovative, and above all, proactive suppliers and the legal profession is no different. e-ssentials is one way in which we can demonstrate our attitude to business, and show clients and potential clients the type of firm we are.”

Businesses interested in registering for either employment law e-ssentials or property law e-ssentials, can do so on-line at www.e-ssentials.co.uk.
