Masters Success

Local Family Law Practitioner William Hogg is celebrating success after gaining a Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M.), which will help in his application to one of the most specialist family law panels in the country.

William, who has been with Broadway based Hegarty & Co for 13 years already handles a wide variety of family law work and hopes to further specialise as a result of his success. In studying for his LLM, he wrote an in depth report on International Child Abduction.  This report will now form part of his application to be on the Lord Chancellor’s recommended list of those with enough knowledge to handle this complex area of law.

Commenting on his success, William said: “It’s very satisfying not only to achieve a Master’s degree, but also to put it to some practical use.  I have already handled a number of International Child Abduction cases, but being accepted onto the Lord Chancellor’s list would be official recognition of my skills in this area.  To be accepted onto the panel you need a thorough understanding of foreign legal procedures, which are often very different from those in the UK.”

Roger Gurney, Head of Hegarty’s large Family Law Department said: “We’re extremely pleased with William’s result.  Even within one area of law such as Family work, we need to have particular specialisms, and his success will enable us to help and even greater number of people in this complex area of law.”

Hegarty & Co’s web site contains a comprehensive guide to Family Law.  It can be found at www.hegarty.co.uk/famhome.htm
