MP launches on-line monitoring service at Hegarty & Co

Business | Press | News

Sir Brian Mawhinney MP recently visited the offices of local law firm Hegarty & Co to find out more about the role of solicitors in Peterborough, and launched their new on-line monitoring service.

During the morning visit, Sir Brian, who has now been involved in politics for 25 years, spent time meeting members of staff and talked about some of the legal issues raised by his constituents.

Sir Brian explained, "I can see a correlation between my role and that of Hegarty & Co in that we are both involved with advising people about the law. When I have discussions with my constituents, they are sometimes frustrated with the legal system and ask me for assistance. This visit was useful to understand more from the solicitors perspective and to see how committed they are to helping their clients."

He continued, "We are fortunate in Peterborough to have top rate law firms that provide clients with excellent legal advice."

The firm invited Sir Brian to officially launch their re-developed website on which certain clients will have access to monitor the progress of their matters on-line.

Partner Richard Hegarty explained, "We believe we are the first law firm in Peterborough to offer this service to clients. In the past, law firms have been accused of not keeping their clients informed enough as to the progress of their matter. This is something we have really taken on board and decided to invest in developing our website to allow on-line monitoring for selected clients."

Sir Brian was very interested in the new service and commented," I was impressed by on-line monitoring service at Hegarty & Co as it illustrates how innovative the law firms in Peterborough can be. We all recognise the competitive advantage that firms can gain by exploiting the Internet, and this is a brilliant example of a Peterborough firm utilising this technology."

As part of the visit, Sir Brian also presented long service awards to members of staff from the firm. He presented certificates and gifts to Nigel Scotney and Jackie Wright who have worked for Hegarty & Co for 20 years, and Sarah Phillips and Janet Ward have been at the firm for 15 years.
