Dr Paul Fifield was the guest speaker
at the inaugural meeting for the Chartered Institute of Marketing's (CIM)
Greater Peterborough Group on Wednesday 3 October.
Around eighty marketers from the
Greater Peterborough area turned out for the event, which was held at
Perkin's Innovation Centre in Eastfield.
Dr Fifield, author of 'Marketing
Strategy' and outspoken champion of customer focus, entertained the
audience for almost two hours with his no-nonsense guide to the latest
techniques in market segmentation. He reminded marketers that
"there's no pain without gain" and that to give customers
what they want you have to get closer to them; and you can only do
this by understanding their motivation towards purchase decisions.
The CIM Greater Peterborough Marketing
Group is an informal gathering that has been established to give
marketers in the area the opportunity to meet up on a regular basis.
The meetings are open to everyone with an interest in marketing,
whether or not a CIM member.
The next event will be a Creative
Thinking Workshop, led by Gordon Adams of Alternative Futures. The
event will be held on Wednesday 28 November, from 6.30pm to
9.00pm, and will again be held at Perkins.
