Peterborough attracting international relocation enquiries

Business | Press | News

International companies are increasingly considering Peterborough when planning to open new offices or relocate to the UK, according to the Greater Peterborough Investment Agency (GPIA).

GPIA and its regional partner Invest East of England have reported an increase in the number of enquiries from international companies interested in opening an office or relocating to Peterborough

Bill Agnew deputy chief executive of GPIA

Bill Agnew, deputy chief executive of GPIA, said: “We are in the process of handling enquiries from companies based in America, Holland, Ireland and Japan and have already helped a number of international organisations move to Peterborough. The city is becoming highly desirable for businesses wanting to take advantage of affordable commercial property, excellent transport links and a highly skilled workforce.

“The international relocation market has been fairly quiet in recent years but the number of overseas enquiries we are now handling is almost a record.”

GPIA organises individual visits for companies interested in relocating and provides advice and assistance to ensure the move runs smoothly. It also provides an after care service, ensuring that all their needs have been met and providing any further assistance required.

The Positively Peterborough campaign, which promotes the city as an excellent location to live and work, has helped to raise the profile of the city and has generated enquiries. The campaign involves promoting Peterborough through its website – www.positivelypeterborough.org – as well as advertising and sponsorship of events.

“The Positively Peterborough campaign has helped to spread the word that the city is a fantastic place to live and work which is also committed to investing in the future,” added Bill Agnew. “The recent enquiries and subsequent relocations will further boost Peterborough’s reputation and profile which we hope will encourage even more companies to relocate.
