New chairman for property forum

Business | Press | News

Peter Williams of Lambert Smith Hampton has been elected as chairman of the Greater Peterborough Investment Agency's property forum.

The forum brings together investors, developers, agents and others involved in Peterborough's property industry.

It is intended to provide a channel of communication between the Greater Peterborough Investment Agency (GPIA), property professionals and the GPIA's partners.

Peter Williams, new chairman of the GPIA's property forum.

For the past three years the forum has been chaired by Tony Barker of Barker Storey Matthews.

The guest speaker at the most recent forum meeting was Dr John Bridge, the man responsible for steering Peterborough's bid to secure an Urban Regeneration Company to deliver city centre development. Mr Williams took office at the end of the meeting and told members:

Under the excellent stewardship of Tony Barker, the GPIA property forum has engaged with major issues affecting the city's development issues such as flood protection in Eastern Industry and the city centre master plan.

"Now we would like to see the forum bring in a wider membership, particularly from the many companies involved in both residential and commercial development in Peterborough."

Members voted to meet more frequently in future. Plans for the new hospital development and for the expansion of higher education in Peterborough are to be on the agenda for meetings later this year.

  • Anyone interested in joining the forum should contact Helen Bosett at GPIA on 01733 404394 or Peter Williams on 01733 563921.
