The site – a joint initiative from
Greater Peterborough Investment Agency (GPIA) and English
Partnerships, the government agency for regeneration and development
– has exceeded all expectations in the numbers of distinct visitors
and the frequency of return visits.
“These figures are very encouraging
and reflect the effort being made to promote Peterborough as an
attractive business location with excellent lifestyle benefits,”
said GPIA business development director Bill Agnew.
The site, developed by
Peterborough-based T2 Studios, ‘went live’ in early June and
replaced an earlier promotional site that was launched two years ago.
“The initial visitor figures are unprecedented for a newly-launched
site, especially given that we had not initiated search engine
marketing and associated promotional activity,” said T2 new media
director James Lewis.
“Frequent news updates and other
additions give the site a sense of immediacy and we are investigating
techniques to make it user-friendly for people with disabilities,”
Within the first full month of the
site launch there were 800 distinct visitors with 70.5 per cent making
return visits in less than one day. A further 20 per cent made return
visits within seven days. On this basis 1,400 visitors are expected
for the month of July.
Figures also reveal that the site is
effective in attracting business visitors who are interested in
relocating within the Greater Peterborough area, with 30 per cent of
users visiting the commercial property section, making it one of the
most frequently used sections.
Around 18 per cent of visitors used
search engines to find the site, with Yahoo! being the most popular
followed by Alta Vista and Google.
