Former banker takes high profile role at Investment Agency

A former top bank manager has been appointed to one of Peterborough's highest profile jobs.

Bill Agnew has taken on the newly-created role of business development director at Greater Peterborough Investment Agency (GPIA), the organisation which is responsible for attracting businesses to the area and supporting those already here. He will take charge of key aspects of GPIA's operations.

Mr Agnew (52) was previously senior corporate manager for Peterborough and Spalding with Barclays Bank, the culmination of a 33 year career with the company during which he held a number of posts involved with assisting a wide range of small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large companies.

GPIA chief executive Gloria Milne said: "This is a new role within the agency which will focus strongly on helping Greater Peterborough to retain fast-growing companies. Bill's excellent understanding of economic development issues, corporate finance and general business management makes him the ideal person for this post."

Mr Agnew said: "My initial focus will be on identifying ways in which GPIA can assist local companies to expand. It is a tremendous opportunity to put my skills to work for the wider business community and I am looking forward to showing firms how we can make a positive impact on their business."
