Local business leaders will be given an insight into the future of
Peterborough’s health services when they attend a Greater
Peterborough Investment Agency breakfast meeting at The Cresset on
Tuesday (2 July).
Guest speaker Chris Banks, project
director for Peterborough Hospitals NHS Trust, will describe latest
moves towards the development of a single site hospital at Bretton and
proposals for new health care centres.
Agency chief executive Gloria Milne
said: “Efficient healthcare services are essential for the
continuing development of Peterborough as an attractive business
centre. Healthcare provision is an important consideration when
companies and individuals consider their relocation options.”
Peterborough Hospitals NHS Trust has
an agreement to proceed with a £135 million hospital and primary care
redevelopment under which it wants to create a new ‘super-hospital’
at the Edith Cavell Hospital campus at Bretton.
The proposals could result in a
combined hospital facility with 790 beds and create 300 additional
jobs. Detailed plans are due to be submitted for government approval
by early 2003 permitting the new hospital to be operational by 2007.
The meeting, arranged for GPIA’s
Business Partners, is sponsored by B1 Business Homes and begins at 8
am. For details contact Helen Bosett at GPIA - Telephone: 01733
