Broker chooses Peterborough

Business | Press | News

Financial services companies are increasingly choosing Peterborough as the ideal location to establish or open new premises due to its excellent transport connections and the availability of a highly skilled workforce.

First4Brokers was created to provide a unique network service for commercial and residential mortgage brokers. It offers compliance, mortgage and insurance services and has a membership of over fifty brokers based around the UK. It was established in early 2004 and opened its Peterborough headquarters at Tesla Court later that year.

We looked at a number of possible locations around the UK including Milton Keynes, Bedford and Northampton before choosing Peterborough as our base, said Charles Gooding, managing director at First4Brokers.

The city has excellent transport links across the country by both rail and road, which was essential when choosing a location. It is also home to a number of well-established financial services companies and therefore has a highly skilled workforce which was important when recruiting locally.

The company already plans to expand its workforce from 11 and envisages appointing additional staff within the next six months. First4Brokers plans to increase its premises at Tesla Court to cater for the expansion.

Plans for the extensive development of Peterborough over the next 20 years were also a major factor when considering location.

Peterborough is entering a period of significant expansion and we are looking to support builders and developers when they open new sites in and around the city. We are also keen to work with other financial services organisations for the mutual benefit of all involved, Charles added.

This is an exciting time for local companies and we are looking forward to establishing and growing the business to plan for the future.
